A tropical storm recently hit southern Africa and left a trail of destruction in its wake. Tropical storm Dando hit the southern region on Sunday, January 17 and lasted until the following Tuesday. The storm caused flooding which reportedly left five people dead and an estimated 3,000 more displaced and desperate for bare necessities in Mozambique.
According to a Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System report, damage was reported in southeastern Africa, Mozambique, Limpopo River, and Kruger National Park, South Africa. The storm affected a span of approximately 269,445.71 square kilometers (approximately 167,425.8 square miles).
